Kennedy Statement On Failure Of Trumpcare

Statement

Date: March 24, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Joe Kennedy III today released the following statement after House Republicans failed to secure enough votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

"Today was a fierce reminder of the remarkable power we have to hold our government accountable. No politics, campaigns or elections can change that.

"But this was more than an act of resistance. It was our proud first round in the defining battle of the Trump Era: a fight between those of us who champion our shared humanity, and those who scorn it. Those who know we are only as strong as the care we give the weak, and those who believe the character of this country is defined by a privileged few.

"Today we earned victory. Tomorrow we prepare for the fight to come."
